Chapter one
Nerding Out
I don't want to grow up, cause I'm a Toys"R"Us kid!
Everyone
Sophisticated Fun
The purpose of this microsite was for adult fans to have easy access to collectible toy merchandise. I wanted to embrace "the fandom" and provide a high-quality experience in a seriously fun way.
The center-piece component I suggested was this user-controlled rotation. We didn't have access to 3D models of the merchandise, so we took 360° photos and tied them to a slider. Additionally, we could trigger special infographics at different points on the slider. Customers could choose to show other toys from a list lower on the page.
Try out the slider!
Curated Collectibles
The rest of the site was an assortment of curated collectibles and a section for the current collectible trends of the month.

All Part of the Plan
The Blueprints
I provided this sketch / blueprint to our designers and developers. This showcases a fully responsive spinner component, how it worked, and what was needed for it to work. This helped both teams align on the plan, and we could design and develop simultaneously.
It was a lot of fun collaborating with both teams at every step of the project. While I provided direction, it was a wonderful experience seeing how everyone else contributed to the success of this project.
